Noma Bark Park
On April 15 City Council unanimously approved that
Parks & Rec. develop a design and cost estimate for a downtown
dog park.
The proposed site for the dog park is near the North Main Street
entrance to Earlewood Park in the center of the walking track. A
dog park on this property will provide an
excellent use of the land and it is convenient to thousands of Columbia
dog-owners.
Preliminary plans for the dog park include a
holding gate for animal safety, multi-use water fountain, pet waste
stations, benches and shade trees, a separate area for small dogs, an
informational kiosk and storm water best management practices.
For the safety of all dogs who use the dog park, Parks &
Recreation
will require animals be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on inoculations
and licensed with the City. There may be a small annual fee
to
use the dog park that will cover maintenance & management costs.
